Kim's strong connection to the Chesapeake Bay and love for a coastal lifestyle provide the foundation for her paintings. Kim is best known for her oyster paintings, but she also paints many other sea-related subjects. Kim's tranquil palettes are reminiscent of the calm found in nature while her layers of acrylic paints and other media create texture and depth.

Kim Hovell

We stumbled upon Kim showing her work at the Annapolis Summer Art Festival and were instantly enamored with her oyster paintings. Kim is a free spirit with extreme talent, but her humility and authentic kindness make you forget you are in the presence someone so gifted. Kim’s paintings are graceful and fluid, they poetically combine dozens of colors to create soft neutrals that coordinate in any room.
