You may have noticed some of our lead times seem a bit longer than you would expect, and they are. Lead times today are longer than we are accustomed to experiencing, and we’d like to explain how this has come to be.
Like you, more and more people during the recent pandemic want to make their homes beautiful and comfortable because they are spending more time with their families. This increased demand has put stress on supply chains from raw materials and manufacturing to shipping. On top of the demand, there are the general challenges of keeping work areas sanitized and employees socially distanced and safe. Simply put, this leads to delays in production and shipping.
Rest assured, we are in communication with our partners daily. They are working to overcome these challenges by hiring more people, running second shifts, and in some cases building more production capacity. Decreasing lead times is a challenge that will take time to work through, and we request your patience as these efforts slowly start to take effect.
Thank you for being part of a community that finds comfort and happiness in colorful homes. We take pride in delivering quality products while supporting the American-made movement. Trust us when we say our furniture is worth the wait.

Warranty & Care
-
If properly cared for, your Maine Cottage®'s furniture should become a family heirloom passed down through generations. You can expect Maine Cottage's paint finish to incur an aged patina over time. Touch-up paint is available for all 30 paint colors currently offered. Upon request, we can provide a touch-up kit for minor paint chips that occur along the way. Unfortunately, we cannot provide touch-up paint for discontinued colors. Please contact customer care to request a touch-up kit at customercare@mainecottage.com.
Our paint finish has a satin sheen and should not be waxed or polished, as that will alter the finish. For cleaning, use mild, soapy water, and then dry the piece immediately with a clean, soft cloth.
-
Solid wood is a natural fiber and, therefore will shrink and swell with the seasons. Be careful not to expose your furniture to extremes in temperature or humidity, and avoid exposure to direct sunlight or heat sources. While you should expect your painted furniture's finish to age gracefully, the core frame and construction should defy the laws of aging and are therefore warranted to be free of defects due to faulty materials or workmanship for the lifetime of the original owner under normal care and use.
-
Frame - Lifetime Warranty
Hefty frames are constructed using 5/4" or thicker kiln-dried hardwoods that have been glued, double-dowelled, and reinforced with wooden corner blocks for structural integrity. Designed for strength and rigidity, our frames will not twist or wobble after many years of use. All frame components are warranted against defective material and workmanship for life to the original owner (excludes legs).
Suspension - Lifetime Warranty
Comfortable seating begins with rows of double-cone springs positioned within the frame and supported by a platform of rigid polypropylene sheeting and steel bands. Skilled artisans then hand-tie these coils to the frame at eight separate points. The eight-way hand-tied method allows your weight to be uniformly distributed as you comfortably settle in. All components of the spring systems are warranted against defective material and workmanship for the life of the original owner.
Backseat & Cushions - Five (5) Year Warranty
Our standard back cushions are constructed with conjugated polyester fibers and encased in a channeled ticking. Cushions are warranted to remain resilient and to be free from manufacturing defects for five years from the date of purchase. Do not confuse loss of resiliency with softening. Under normal use, cushions will soften, conform to the user's shape and become more comfortable. Proper maintenance, including frequent seat and back cushion rotation, will provide longer life and greater durability. Softening is not covered by this warranty. Due to the construction of the Down Cushions, they are not covered under this warranty.
Sleeper Mattress - Five (5) Year Warranty
All components of our standard sleeper mattress are warranted against defective material and workmanship for five years from the date of purchase.
Sleeper & Swivel Mechanisms - Three (3) Year Warranty
All components are warranted against defective material and workmanship for three years from the date of purchase.
Indoor Fabrics - One (1) Year Warranty
Fabrics are not traditionally guaranteed against wear. We at Maine Cottage® warrant our fabrics for a period of one year under normal residential care and use. This warranty does not cover fading, pilling, or shrinkage and is not valid where there is evidence of heavy soiling. All fabric warranties are null and void if improperly cleaned or treated with a chemical fabric treatment. However, most fabric protectors come with their own warranty.
-
Inside Out Performance Fabrics® - 3-Year Limited Warranty
This warranty protects against Inside Out Performance Fabrics® becoming unserviceable due to color or strength loss from normal usage and exposure conditions, including sunlight, mildew, and atmospheric chemicals. This warranty does not cover normal care and cleaning; damage from misuse or abuse; improper installation; or costs associated with the replacement of the furniture, including labor and installation. Maine Cottage and Inside Out Performance Fabrics® reserve the right to review and inspect any fabric submitted for claim.
-
We do sell touch up paint kits for any of our current 30 paint colors. Unfortunately, we cannot provide touch up paint for any of our discontinued paint colors. To purchase touch up paint please access this page.
-
Touching up your painted furniture is a delicate practice that requires patience, but with the following steps, it can be an easy and successful process.
- First, use fine grit sandpaper to lightly buff along the area that needs to be touched up, making sure to even out the edges, especially if there is a significant chip in the piece. This process will prep the area so the new paint applied is as smooth as the rest of the finish.
- Next, you'll want to mix the paint well as the color pigments tend to settle over time. If the paint is too thick, the touch-up area will be uneven with the rest of the piece, so be sure to stir and mix very well.
- Lightly apply thin layers of paint to the area that needs to be touched up. Let dry. Apply another layer. Repeat this process until the finish is built up. Cotton rugs offer color and style at a reasonable price.
- Great for kitchens, children’s rooms, and casual spaces.
For application, we recommend a small watercolor brush on smaller spots or a sponge brush for larger areas. The sponge material will ensure a smooth paint application to get as close as you can to the sprayed finish our professional painters use.
Product Info
-
Our painted furniture is crafted in America using quality materials that will enable it to maintain its value over time. Each piece is bench-built to order.
-
We predominantly use maple, poplar, and maple veneer. Our beds and drawers are all solid wood, except for the Charlotte collection, which uses European-style veneer drawer boxes. Our case frames are also solid wood, while the side and back panels are maple veneers. Our mirrors, cork boards, and picture frames are made on CNC routers using medium-density fiberboard.
-
The paints we use are mixed exclusively for Maine Cottage® and have a volatile organic compound (VOC) content that is significantly lower than conventional solvent-based paints. Our paint brings out the richness and vibrancy in all of our colors while providing intense durability. Our process involves thorough sanding between coats. It's the labor-intensive sanding with fine grit, aluminum oxide abrasive paper that is arguably the most important step in our finishing process. It leaves the finish feeling satin smooth. Over time our paint finish ages gracefully, developing a patina of surface scratches that add to the charm of our furniture's cottage style.

Close to home and close to Mother Nature. Maine Cottage® fabrics are made from natural materials. We create lasting fabrics that feel good to touch. Fibers are harvested from fields and made into textiles by family-owned mills throughout the United States and Europe. Textiles made of natural materials make for soft, durable, and dependable upholstery fabrics. After all, Mother knows best.

Yes, because color varies from monitor to monitor, we offer and highly recommend color cards (for $2 each) and fabric swatches (for $2 each).

Just like our painted furniture, all of our upholstered pieces are made right here in America. We work with family-owned companies located in the foothills of North Carolina's Appalachian mountains, where men and women have been crafting exceptional furniture for generations. Each piece is built to order by highly skilled craftspeople who take pride in their work and the Maine Cottage® brand. Our frames are made of 5/4", or thicker, kiln-dried select hardwoods with joints that are double-dowelled, glued, and block-reinforced for extra strength. When sourcing products and vendors, we are conscientious about entering agreements with companies who share in our commitment to ecological balance and organic sustainability.
-
In the furniture industry, few manufacturers can claim they build eight-way-tied furniture. We're proud to be one of them. We use tempered steel double cone coil springs supported by polypropylene sheeting and steel bands for extra durability. These coils are eight-way-hand-tied with the finest twine available, and the coils are clinched to prevent shifting. For comfort, a heavy covering is then used over the spring base in addition to our special insulator pad and soft batting. Padded arms use foam and high-grade batting to ensure lasting comfort and proper overall shape. All this talk comes to a very comfortable seat that is going to last a very long time.
-
Yes, we sell our fabric by-the-yard in the fabric section of our website. Simply visit our fabric shop, click on a fabric swatch and you can easily purchase by the yard right there online!
-
All of our striped and textured striped fabrics will be upholstered vertically unless otherwise specified. That means if you are purchasing your furniture online, have chosen a striped fabric, and would like to have the stripes run horizontally, please contact a Design Associate at 866.366.3505 or via chat so we can make that note on your order.

Maine Cottage® linens offer a unique blend of comfort, practicality, and elegance that just gets better with time. Our linens are made by mills in small European towns that have perfected the art over multiple centuries through several generations. Our linen fabrics are all unique, with variable thread widths that create an organic texture. We choose linens to coordinate with our signature paint colors and printed fabrics.
Signature Patterns are rotary screen-printed on durable 18-ounce cotton and linen blends at a third-generation textile printing company in North Carolina. Fabrics are printed using VAT dyes for vivid color and saturation. The rotary process creates the highest caliber of printed fabrics on the market. During the process, inks are forced through mesh screens into the cloth's fibers. The deep penetration holds color better and longer than digital printing. The fabrics we print on are heavy, durable, and soft to the touch.
