New Year, New Blue Hue
One of Maine Cottage’s founding principles was to be the place Where Color Lives, so it is only natural that one of our favorite surprises each holiday season is the highly anticipated reveal of Pantone’s Color of the Year. We were so excited to see Classic Blue named as Pantone’s Color of 2020!
“Classic Blue is a shade reminiscent of the sky at dusk…It’s a color that anticipates what’s going to happen next,” according to Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute.
At Maine Cottage we love the positivity and enthusiasm that each New Year brings, full of opportunities to start something new and look at things with a fresh perspective. And with the excitement and rush of the holidays winding down, it is also a perfect time to enjoy the respite and rethink the impact of color in your home.

WHAT DOES BLUE MEAN TO YOU?
Blue has remained a perennial favorite at Maine Cottage because it is one of the most diverse hues on the planet, with inspiration from sky to sea, emotions from calming to bold, and styles from traditional to modern.
Maine Cottage’s coastal interpretation of Classic Blue is one of our most popular hues, Marine. We love using Marine as a base for color play:
The popular Judy Chair is an updated version of a traditional Windsor Chair. It’s always a classic design with our Marine paint, but we show three different seat cushions to create three different looks: 1) Judy chair featuring a seat cushion in Lucky Leaf: Marine 2) Judy chair featuring a seat cushion Tic Toc: Rhubarb 3) Judy chair featuring a seat cushion in Sea Biscuit: Porch
We also offer a variety of blue-hued paints and fabric options featuring hand-drawn patterns and unique woven designs. Colors range from soft, dusty blues and blue-greens like Goodegg, Bluebell, Porch, Surf, Wave, Lagoon, Winter, Nikko Blue, True Blue, Vast Sky, to more traditional blue hues like China Blue, French Blue, Academy, and Marine.
BLUE BEYOND
It is amazing how various shades of a color can evoke different meanings and reactions. This is just one of many the reasons Maine Cottage embraces color in everything we do, and why we offer a specially curated coastal interpretation featuring almost every color under the sun, sky, and sea.
QUALITY + COLOR
At Maine Cottage we love all things color, and that applies to all colors. Each unique design is handcrafted in the U.S. with top quality wood (maple, cherry, oak and quarter sawn oak). All Maine Cottage wood furniture is available in 35 colors, and our finish has a satin sheen designed to age gracefully and develop a lovely patina over time.
In addition, we offer dozens of custom upholstery fabrics for endless personalization options, from whimsical to traditional. “Color preference is so personal—we only choose colors for the brand we love and that gives us a genuinely giddy feeling. The colors you fill your space with will ultimately make you feel something, we choose that feeling to be happy!” – Lauren Russell, Creative Director at Maine Cottage.
The beauty of our collections is that everything is designed to work together perfectly, making it easy and fun to mix and match every room in your home.
