COASTAL CUES

When people think of seaside colors, blue and white are the most common building blocks that come to mind. It’s only natural that the sea and sky are the inspiration for some of the most popular coastal palettes for home décor. Just like Mother Nature, there are endless ranges and blends from bright and clear to soft and muted.

Maine Cottage designers are so inspired by the coast that it’s easy to see the influence of nature reflected in many of our favorite colors. Lagoon, Wave, Surf, and Vast Sky are a few beautiful blues created with a seaside vibe in mind. Adding these hues to your home will instantly create a feeling of peace and tranquility.

The painterly palette ranges from soft pinks like Bermuda Beach to bold Shrimp and Tomato red to clear yellow Sun. With so many options, you can have fun discovering your favorite color combinations that make you feel warm and at home.

For a timeless coastal combination, try pairing your favorite sunny hue (Zinnia, Shrimp, Sun, Ale) with pale shades like White, Milk, Ivory, or Oyster.  Neutral greys like Slate and Dusk are also effortless options that complement almost any color scheme.
